Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Expands Historic Five Points Campus

Cleo Parker Robinson Dance (CPRD), a pillar of Denver’s cultural landscape, has officially broken ground on a transformative expansion project at its historic Five Points campus. Located at 119 Park Avenue West, the site has long served as the heart of CPRD’s dance, education, and community programming.

The nearly 15,000-square-foot expansion marks a new chapter for the organization, which has been a driving force in the city’s performing arts scene for over 50 years. Originally constructed in 1890 as a church, the historic building is undergoing a careful adaptive reuse to house a state-of-the-art, multi-level performance and education facility.

Project Components Include:

  • A 240-seat theater for performances, lectures, and events

  • Additional classrooms and studio spaces for educational programs

  • Expanded administrative offices for staff

  • A new internal connection to CPRD’s existing headquarters

The project is led by Fentress Architects, with construction by Mortenson. The design approach retains key architectural elements from the historic structure while modernizing the interior systems.

Initially announced in 2022, the $20 million project is funded through a combination of public and private sources, including grants, private contributions, and city support.

Context and Timeline:

The expansion takes place as the Five Points neighborhood sees ongoing development activity, including both new construction and historic preservation. The project aligns with CPRD’s long-term planning goals to improve operational capacity and update facilities.

Construction is currently underway, with completion anticipated in late 2026. Once operational, the expanded campus will accommodate performances, workshops, and educational activities.
