Pirates Cove to Undergo $6.3 Million Renovation Ahead of the 2027 Season
DENVER, CO — Families visiting Pirates Cove for one last splash this summer will be among the last to experience the park's current Bay Pool before a major transformation begins.

The City of Englewood has announced plans for a $6.3 million renovation of the Bay Pool area at Pirates Cove Water Park, with construction set to begin immediately after the park closes for the 2026 season on August 9. The project is expected to continue through the fall, winter, and spring before reopening for the 2027 season.
The renovation will replace aging amenities with a redesigned aquatic experience centered around a new leisure pool and two additional waterslides. Plans also include a new pump house, a rentable event pavilion for private gatherings, expanded deck space with additional seating and shade, and infrastructure upgrades intended to improve water efficiency throughout the facility.
The improvements focus on the eastern portion of the water park, where the existing competitive pool is currently located. Concept plans show the area being completely reimagined into a more family-oriented destination while preserving the rest of Pirates Cove's existing attractions.
The project is funded through Englewood's Parks and Recreation Bond, part of the city's broader Renew & Recreate initiative. Over the next several years, the program will invest approximately $41.5 million into parks, recreation facilities, playgrounds, trails, and open spaces throughout the community, with the majority of projects expected to be completed by 2028.
According to the city, Pirates Cove will operate through the remainder of its normal 2026 summer season before closing on August 9. Construction is scheduled to begin shortly afterward, with the renovated water park expected to welcome guests back when it reopens for the 2027 season.
