King Soopers Celebrates Grand Opening of New 103,000-Square-Foot Store
DENVER, CO – King Soopers officially celebrated the grand opening of its newest grocery store on June 3, opening the doors to a new 103,000-square-foot location that replaces the company's aging Belcaro store.

Located at 4201 East Arkansas Avenue, the new store marks King Soopers' 150th location and represents a more than $37 million investment into the surrounding community. The store officially opened following a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community leaders, project partners, and King Soopers employees.
The new grocery store was constructed on the former Colorado Department of Transportation headquarters property, transforming a long-vacant site into a modern retail destination designed to serve residents in the surrounding area.
Customers visiting the new location will find expanded grocery departments, a pharmacy with drive-thru service, grocery pickup stalls, fresh food offerings, and additional amenities not available at the previous store.

The opening comes one day after the closure of the longtime Belcaro King Soopers located at 825 South Colorado Boulevard. The former store had served the area for decades but had become increasingly constrained by its size and aging infrastructure compared to newer grocery formats. The transition to the new location provides significantly more retail space, expanded parking, and updated customer amenities while maintaining grocery access for nearby neighborhoods.
Construction of the project was completed by Mark Young Construction. Opening day festivities included giveaways, product samples, and community celebrations marking the completion of the project.
The closure of the former Belcaro location may also represent the beginning of another redevelopment opportunity along the Colorado Boulevard corridor, with the site expected to eventually be redeveloped as a multifamily housing project.
