Denver Arbor Day Event to Bring Tree Planting, Climbing, and Community Activities to Rosamond Park

DENVER, CO – Denver Parks & Recreation is inviting community members to celebrate Arbor Day this Friday with a volunteer-focused event centered around expanding and protecting Denver’s urban tree canopy. The annual Arbor Day Celebration will take place May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Rosamond Park near East Quincy Avenue in southeast Denver. The event is being organized in partnership with Denver Forestry and several local sustainability and conservation organizations.

According to Denver Parks & Recreation, the event is designed to connect residents with local environmental groups while encouraging hands-on participation through tree planting and educational activities. Volunteers will help plant trees throughout Rosamond Park as part of Denver’s broader efforts to strengthen the city’s urban forest and increase long-term canopy coverage.

The celebration will also feature educational booths, guided tree talks and walks, raffle giveaways, and opportunities to meet experts from organizations including Denver’s Office of the City Forester, the Office of Climate Action, Sustainability & Resiliency, Colorado State Forest Service, Denver Water Quality, Denver Mountain Parks & Wildlife Team, and The Park People.

Additional activities planned throughout the day include tree climbing and rock climbing experiences, giving attendees a more interactive look at Denver’s urban forestry initiatives.

Denver Parks & Recreation noted that volunteers are still needed for the event, with sign-up opportunities currently available online. Organizers say participants will have the opportunity to help make a direct impact on the neighborhood while learning more about sustainability and conservation efforts happening across the city.

The event will be held at Rosamond Park, from 8:30am - 2:00pm, at 8051 E. Quincy Avenue.

Community members interested in volunteering or learning more about the event can sign up through the official Denver Parks & Recreation event page here: Denver Arbor Day 2026 Volunteer Sign Up
